EVA Air to join Star Alliance as of June 18, 2013

EVA Air, Taiwan’s second largest carrier and arguably the unofficial airline of Hello Kitty, has announced that it will be joining Star Alliance as of June 18, 2013.  EVA Air’s network spans the globe from Asia to Europe, North America and Oceania, and links more than 60 cities worldwide.  EVA Air’s admission into the Star Alliance network will allow members access to 1,345 destinations in 191 countries.   This will be welcome news to Star Alliance members who stockpile miles to redeem for long-haul business class flights as EVA has a fully flat business class seat.  Additionally, EVA Air will provide new intra-Asian routes to Star Alliance members.
